About our Gala Night 2019 "Viva la Musica!"
For the finale of the 2019 season, the Eutin Festival presents a concert of particularly moving moments from the world of opera. Farewell and departure at the same time - this is the theme of Dominique Caron's last gala evening of her tenure as artistic director. Her declared claim for her very personally colored selection of compositions, which orchestrate dramatic decisions ready for the stage: "Masterful music gives us a firework of unique truth. Viva la musica!
The names of the composers, almost all fixed stars in the opera cosmos of the 19th century, are correspondingly sonorous: from Italy Bellini, Cilea, Leoncavallo, Puccini and Verdi, from France Offenbach, Massenet and Bizet, from Eastern Europe Borodin, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky as well as from Germany Mozart, Strauss and Wagner. And the gala selection of their works is demanding, from prelude to Wagner's "Meistersängern" to the prisoner choir from Verdi's "Nabucco" to the final "Rosenkavalier "erzett by Richard Strauss. Participants of the gala evening are popular soloists of the festival, the Kammerphilharmonie Lübeck conducted by Hilary Griffiths, the choir of the Eutiner Festspiele, reinforced by the Eutiner Kantorei, and Rainer Wulff as moderator.
