Tomohiro Takada, born in 1976, began his singing career at the age of 17 and completed his studies in Tokyo in 1999. Still in Japan he sings Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Marcello in La Bohème and Figaro in Der Barbier von Sevilla. He settled in Germany and appeared as Bello in Puccini's La fanciulla del West at the Staatstheater Stuttgart.
In his homeland he is in demand as a soloist in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, in Fauré's Requiem and as Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro. In 2007 the baritone joins the ensemble of the Kiel Opera and is cast in many leading roles: as Marquis of Posa in Don Carlos, Count Luna in Der Troubadour, Don Alvaro in Die Reise nach Reims and Escamillo in Carmen. He sings the title role in Eugene Onegin, Wolfram in Tannhäuser, Beckmesser in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Donner in Rheingold. He is also a guest at the Komische Oper Berlin in Zimmermann's Die Soldaten and in Hyogo as Kaspar in Weber's Freischütz. In 2019 Tomohiro Takada makes his debut at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, in the world premiere of Akira Nishimura's opera Asters. He is a chamber singer in Kiel.

The Korean baritone Hyunkyum Kim won the Eutin Festival prize of honour. Hilary Griffiths, Artistic Director Classical Music at the Festival, congratulated the 28-year-old singer on this success in the finale of the Maritim Music Prize.
