Dominique Caron, born in Paris, studied music, linguistics and theatre in San Francisco. She made her debut in Germany at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. After working as a freelance director and cultural expert at the ARD office in Los Angeles, she returned to Europe in the 1990s as First Director at the Stadttheater Bern.
This was followed by engagements as First Director of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, from 2001 to 2005 first as Chief Dispatcher, later as Artistic Director of Operations at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and in 2006 as Opera Director and Artistic Director of Operations at the Theater Gießen. In 2008 she was appointed to the Theater Dortmund as opera consultant and from December 2010 to July 2011 she temporarily directed the Opera Dortmund. Since October 2011 she has been artistic director of the Neue Eutiner Festspiele and has enjoyed great success with her productions.
Colourful entertainment, great emotions - this is the enormous emotional range promised by director Tobias Materna for the production of the musical "A Cage Full of Fools" at the Eutin Festival.
The Korean baritone Hyunkyum Kim won the Eutin Festival prize of honour. Hilary Griffiths, Artistic Director Classical Music at the Festival, congratulated the 28-year-old singer on this success in the finale of the Maritim Music Prize.
