About "Un ballo in maschera"

A masked ball (Un ballo in maschera) is a celebrated masterpiece by the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. The opera was first performed in Rome in 1859.

If a king loves the wife of his best friend, he should be careful! Can the love between the dazzling King Gustav III of Sweden and Amelia, Count Anckarström's wife, exist - or has an herb grown? Can Amelia's veil cover love? Can the mask protect the king? What role does Ulrica, the fortune-teller, play? Do all her prophecies really come true? Conspiracy, desire and forgiveness: Giuseppe Verdi's opera, an emotional roller coaster ride, juggles with the themes of love and intrigue, occultism and superstition, wounded pride and revenge - and ends with murder.
