Born in Reinbek, Jeremy Almeida Uy takes piano lessons at an early age and sings in choirs and vocal ensembles. After graduating from high school, he studied musicology and school music before taking up singing studies at the Lübeck University of Music in the class of Prof. Franz-Josef Einhaus. The young tenor is already in demand as a concert soloist in northern Germany, performing a concert version of the opera "The Rape of Lucretia" in the Elbphilharmonie, with the Faust scenes by Robert Schumann at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in the Musik- und Kongresshalle Lübeck, in the Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns in Hamburg's Michel and in Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio. During his studies he attended master classes with Michaela Schuster, Helen Donath, Simone Kermes, Siegfried Jerusalem, Eric Whitacre and Ton Koopmann. In addition to his busy concert schedule, he has been a member of the choir of the Neue Eutiner Festspiele since 2015, where he sings the part of Guiseppe in Verdi's "La Traviata" in the 2018 season.
Colourful entertainment, great emotions - this is the enormous emotional range promised by director Tobias Materna for the production of the musical "A Cage Full of Fools" at the Eutin Festival.
The Korean baritone Hyunkyum Kim won the Eutin Festival prize of honour. Hilary Griffiths, Artistic Director Classical Music at the Festival, congratulated the 28-year-old singer on this success in the finale of the Maritim Music Prize.
