Born in Wiesbaden and raised in Cologne, Jennifer Toelstede studied musicology in Bonn. With assistants in Amsterdam, Dresden, the Cologne Opera, the Hamburg State Opera and the Teatro Colon de Bogotá she has the opportunity to work with directors such as Karen Stone, Claus Guth and repeatedly with Willy Decker and Anthony Pilavachi. In 2011 she will stage Wolfram Eicke's musical "Der kleine Tag" at the Musik-und Kongresshalle Lübeck, which she also staged in autumn 2016 as a project of the Lübecker Knabenkantorei. At the Theater Lübeck, where she works as assistant director and evening director, she staged the premiere of the musical "Die Marzipanpiraten" in the 2015/16 season and the premiere of the family opera "Der Drachenreiter" in the 2017/18 season.

The Korean baritone Hyunkyum Kim won the Eutin Festival prize of honour. Hilary Griffiths, Artistic Director Classical Music at the Festival, congratulated the 28-year-old singer on this success in the finale of the Maritim Music Prize.
