As a student at the Goethe-Gymnasium in Schwerin, Iris Meyer already took on solo tasks in the youth choir and on concert tours in Europe and America. At competitions of "Jugend musiziert" she wins first prizes as well as a special prize for outlawed music. The mezzo-soprano will graduate in October 2018 from the Musikhochschule Lübeck with a bachelor's degree in singing and music practice. During her studies she took part in numerous opera productions at the Academy, including the role of "Bianca" from the opera "The Rape of Lucretia" directed by Anthony Pilavachi. In collaboration with the composer Eric Whitacre she performs in the St. Michaelis Church in Hamburg.
In 2016 she is engaged at the New Eutin Festival as bridesmaid in "Der Freischütz" as well as for the productions "Carmen" and "Der Vogelhändler". In 2018 she takes part in a master class with Michaela Schuster.
Colourful entertainment, great emotions - this is the enormous emotional range promised by director Tobias Materna for the production of the musical "A Cage Full of Fools" at the Eutin Festival.
The Korean baritone Hyunkyum Kim won the Eutin Festival prize of honour. Hilary Griffiths, Artistic Director Classical Music at the Festival, congratulated the 28-year-old singer on this success in the finale of the Maritim Music Prize.
