For the first time in 45 years Carl Maria von Weber's one-act work will be performed again at the festival and in Lübeck - and in addition as a local production: the orchestra and ensemble are made up of students from the Lübeck University of Music, with young people from Eutin and the surrounding area singing in the choir.
Nota bene: Weber has set himself a monument in the figure of Abu Hassan. His family was heavily indebted and imprisoned, later expelled from Württemberg. With the success of "Abu Hassan" he was not only able to pay off the family debts, but also to appease the Grand Duke...

The Korean baritone Hyunkyum Kim won the Eutin Festival prize of honour. Hilary Griffiths, Artistic Director Classical Music at the Festival, congratulated the 28-year-old singer on this success in the finale of the Maritim Music Prize.
